Event narrative (NOAA)

Excessive Heat Warning conditions occurred across the region August 1st through the 5th. In Hood County, daytime high temperatures ranged approximately from 105-111 degrees with overnight lows in the upper 70s to mid 80s. Afternoon heat index values were around or slightly above 110 degrees in several locations. One person in the Oak Trail Shore area died from hyperthermia on the 1st.
