Excessive Heat Warning conditions occurred across the region August 1st through the 5th. In Collin County, daytime high temperatures ranged approximately from 104-109 degrees with overnight lows in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Afternoon heat index values were around 110 degrees in several locations. A 55-year old male coach died during a football practice on the 1st due a heart problem that was complicated by the excessive heat.
