Event narrative (NOAA)

Excessive Heat Warning conditions occurred across the region August 1st through the 5th. In Bell County, daytime high temperatures ranged approximately from 102-108 degrees with overnight lows in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Afternoon heat index values were as high as 110 and 111 degrees in several locations. One person in the county died of the 4th as a result of the heat.
