Event narrative (NOAA)
A tenth of an inch of ice was reported at Falls Church. There was 23-car accident from icy conditions on the Beltway near Exit 49. Four injuries resulted from the accident and there was a fatality about a mile north of the accident of a man who was walking away from his disabled vehicle.
