Event narrative (NOAA)

The Barrow county Emergency Management Director reported that a 55-year old male was killed when a tree fell on him while grilling for a Mother's Day picnic. This occurred in northeast Barrow county about five miles north-northeast of Statham on Jones Road. He was pined underneath the 30-foot tall, 3-foot diameter tree. In addition, a home sustained damage when a tree fell on the structure.
