Event narrative (NOAA)
The Atlanta-Journal and Constitution and local Atlanta television stations, along with confirmation from the Douglas County Emergency Management Office, reported that a sudden gust of wind as a result of outflow from thunderstorms some 30 miles away, blew down nearly two dozen roof trusses on building under construction. The building under construction was a fire house on Sweetwater Road in Lithia Springs. A 25-year old male worker was killed when one of the 57 foot, 250 pound trusses fell on him and pinned him underneath. Four other workers were also injured during the accident. The building was under construction and as such as not yet secured.
