Event narrative (NOAA)

Shortly after 7 pm on Tuesday June 29th, 14 yr old Scott McLeish of Flatlands was swept to sea by a rip current. His body was not recovered. The incident happened after life guards went off duty, and boy was not a strong swimmer.||Strong rip currents were reported at Jones Beach and Robert Moses, with dangerous rip currents at Hither Hills.
