Event narrative (NOAA)

Two swimmers, 16 and 40 years of age, drown as they were caught in a rip current at the beach off 93rd street in the Rockaways. Two others escaped without injury. Weather conditions included south winds at 10 to 15 MPH at the time, with no long period swells reported.
