Above average temperatures stretched from June 24th through the end of the month and into July. Several prolonged Heat Advisories were in effect, and at times Excessive Heat Warnings were needed, as temperatures soared over 100 degrees and/or heat index values recorded over 105 degrees. During this period, Denton County Public Health reported 26 Heat-related illnesses.
