Event narrative (NOAA)
Triple digit temperatures were recorded 30 out of 31 days during the month of July. According to the medical examiner, a total of 9 people died as a result of the heat. Most of the deceased were over the age of 65 and all but one were found inside their homes. All of deaths occurred after the 14th. In addition, the medical examiner reported 223 cases of heat-related illness were treated in the county during the month. A heat advisory was in effect from the 11th through the 18th, and then again from the 23rd through the 31st.
