Above average temperatures stretched from July 10th through the end of the month and into August. Several prolonged Heat Advisories were in effect, and at times Excessive Heat Warnings were needed, as temperatures soared over 100 degrees and/or heat index values recorded over 105 degrees. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office attributed 5 deaths between July 23rd and the 31st to Hyperthermia.
