Excessive heat occurred over southeast Texas during the last 3 days of August. High temperatures reached well over 100 degrees over inland areas, with Galveston reaching 100 degrees on the 31st. The high temperature of 107 degrees at Houston Intercontinental on the 31st tied the all-time record high temperature observed in Houston up to that date. College Station recorded a high temperature of 109 degrees on the 31st. All 3 heat related deaths were in Harris County.
