Event narrative (NOAA)
An 84 year old woman was found dead in her home in Lafayette. The coroner determined that the death was heat related. The home was furnished with air conditioning but was apparently not operating. The afternoon temperatures were in the upper 90s with heat indices near 110 degrees.
