Event narrative (NOAA)
A three year old boy in Mobile was left inside a van at a day care center all day. He was not discovered until the late afternoon and had been dead for a few hours. He died of heat stroke. The outside temperatures in the Mobile area were in the low to middle 90s during the day with a heat index of around 105 degrees. Temperatures inside the closed van were estimated to be hotter than 160 degrees.
