Event narrative (NOAA)

High temperatures in the upper 90s combined with high humidity to produce heat index values over 105 degrees for several days. The heat index peaked near 109 degrees. A total of 39 people were admitted to hospital emergency departments with heat related illness in St Louis County and city from August 16 through 19.
