Event narrative (NOAA)

The first excessive heat event of the summer hit on July 20 and 21. High temperatures peaked at 99 degrees, but the humidity produced Heat Indices from 105 to 110 degrees. At least 50 people had to be treated for heat related illnesses at a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game on the 20th.
