Event narrative (NOAA)

A 45-year-old male snowboarder was caught, carried, and killed in an avalanche in Dutch Draw along the Park City Ridgeline. The avalanche ran about 460 vertical feet over a distance of 700 feet, and the snowboarder was carried about 400 vertical feet over a distance of 600 feet at speeds up to 45 mph. The snowboarder was buried up to 3 feet deep for an estimated 35 minutes.
