Event narrative (NOAA)
Two snowmobilers were killed in an avalanche in the Uinta Mountains of Summit County near the town of Oakley. They were "high-marking" in an area of Upper Chalk Creek known as "the chutes". The two 29-year-old men were completely buried by the avalanche, estimated to be 900 feet long, 180 feet wide, and 12 feet deep.
