Event narrative (NOAA)

Icy road conditions resulted in a string of vehicle accidents that caused one fatality and one injury on U.S. Highway 87 near Dumas (Moore County). A Chevrolet pickup lost control after encountering icy conditions on the overpass and crashed. A passing motorist stopped to render aid to the Chevrolet driver when a Dodge pickup lost control and struck the assisting motorist and the other two vehicles. The assisting motorist was pronounced decease at the scene, and the Chevrolet driver was treated and released from a local hospital. The Dumas AWOS reported less than a tenth of an inch of ice.
