One of the Navy's vessels in the San Diego Bay, the U.S.S. Bonhomme Richard, caught fire the morning of July 12th and lasted for four days. Copious amounts of smoke entered the atmosphere creating poor air quality in the greater San Diego metro, along with a total of 68 military and civilian firefighters injured during the blaze.
