Event narrative (NOAA)

The Boles fire started on the afternoon of 09/15/14 and spread quickly due to strong winds. It devastated the town of Weed in northern California. In a matter of hours 222 structures were lost, including many homes and part of a lumber mill. As of September 21st, the fire was 479 acres in size and was 100 percent contained. 6.2 million dollars were spent on firefighting efforts.
