Event narrative (NOAA)
Strong winds associated with Helene produced widespread tree damage and power outages across the entire county. Liberty County Emergency Management reported that over 500 residences were impacted, 4 of which were destroyed. Well over 100 trees were reported down on roadways or power lines. One fatality occurred in Midway when a tree fell on a camper, killing the occupant inside.
