A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City, Georgia confirmed that the EF3 tornado that first touched down in far southeast Pike county, approximately three miles southeast of Meansville, quickly moved into Lamar county and traveled northeast across the entire distance of Lamar county from just northwest of Piedmont, through the north side of Barnesville, then moving into and across northern Monroe county before finally moving into far southern Butts county and then lifting. The tornado traveled on the ground slightly over 15 miles within Lamar county. The total tornado path length was around 30 miles.
