Event narrative (NOAA)

Persistent onshore flow ahead of and during Ian led to water level rises of 2 to 3 feet along the Volusia County coastline. Extensive damage to seawalls, with multiple failures, occurred in the Daytona Beach area. Moderate to severe beach erosion was sustained across the southern half of the county, with structural damage limited to walkovers. Total estimated damage due to storm surge and high surf is approximately $15M.
