As Hurricane Matthew passed offshore, the beaches experienced moderate to major erosion and wave run-up to dunes and berms due to an estimated 3-4 foot storm surge. Crosswalks within county-owned beach parks experienced significant damage, with an estimated economic loss of $13 million to the beaches.
