Event narrative (NOAA)
A 65 year-old man from Clermont was trapped in a rip current with his teenage son at an unguarded beach in Daytona Beach Shores near the 2200 block of Atlantic Ave just before 2 PM EDT. Both were rescued, but the man was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Time estimated.
