Event narrative (NOAA)
First responders received a report of a lost swimmer around 12:45 AM CDT early Wednesday morning, whom had been swimming on the eastern side of the 24th Street Jetty in the no swimming zone. Beach patrol indicated that the swimmer had been seen being pulled out to sea, likely the result of a rip current. The swimmer was rescued at 12:49 AM CDT but was later pronounced dead at 1:32 AM CDT. The victim was a 25 year old woman from Houston.
