Event narrative (NOAA)

Multiple broadcast media sources reported that a 12 year old male went missing off of Fort Lauderdale Beach around the 800 block of Seabreeze Boulevard. Fort Lauderdale Fire and Rescue responded to the call shortly after 4:30pm. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department dive team located the body shortly after 8pm. Conditions at the time of the drowning consisted of breezy easterly winds, surf action, and a high risk of rip currents.
