Event narrative (NOAA)

A 16-year-old male was pulled from the surf at Pepper Park Beach in Fort Pierce, FL on Sunday, November 3, 2024 around 6:00 p.m. in the evening. He was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital where he died later that evening. The beach is typically guarded through the day, until about 5:00 p.m. The threat of rip currents was high that day, and witnesses indicated that rough surf was occurring at the time of the incident.
