A 54 year old man died due to a rip current after attempting to save a young boy in distress. The boy was able to make it back to shore. There were 24 water rescues performed, including 1 fatality and 1 injury. Beach flags were initially single red at 2:30 pm CT and were upgraded to double red at 4:30 pm CT.
