Event narrative (NOAA)

A rip current at the 100 block of South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach killed one person and injured two others. A man was in distress caught in a rip current when another man attempted to rescue him. A police officer arrived and was able to pull both men out of the water. One man was unresponsive and was pronounced dead. The other man and the police officer were taken to local hospital and later released. The beach was unguarded at the time.
