Event narrative (NOAA)

Several people were caught and rescued in a rip current that occurred near 23rd Street in Miami Beach. A 34-year-old man from Fort Myers went into the water to rescue his wife. The woman was able to escape, but the man was pulled from the water not breathing shortly thereafter. He later died at Mount Sinai Hospital.
