Event narrative (NOAA)

A 58 year old man from Indiana downed after he and his son were pulled offshore within a rip current. Life guards rescued the son, but were unable to save the father, who was found face down in the water about 300 yards from shore. The man was unresponsive when transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
