Event narrative (NOAA)

A 16 year old boy from Mansfield, visiting the coast for a school trip, was caught in a rip current near the base of Bob Hall Pier on April 1st. The rip current pulled him away from shore. Lifeguards entered the water but lost contact with him. The person was found deceased along Padre Island National Seashore on April 4th.
