Event narrative (NOAA)
A 23-year old male tourist in the surf zone about 100 feet offshore Cape Canaveral appeared to be in distress and was not able to swim. Lifeguards observed rip currents where the man was last seen. The body was recovered nearby about two hours later. An autopsy indicated the man had drowned.
