Event narrative (NOAA)

A 40 year old male drown while attempting to rescue his children who were being pulled seaward by a strong rip current. The man was found floating in the water unconscious about a quarter mile away. Witnesses tried to perform CPR, and the man was taken to a local hospital, but didn't survive. ||The children were rescued by surfers.
