Event narrative (NOAA)

A Canadian businessman drowned at Midtown Beach on Palm Beach as a result of rip currents. The 58-year-old man was swimming about 150 yards north of the guarded beach at Midtown Beach. ||Lifeguards and Fire-Rescue personnel performed CPR on the victim, which was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.||Time of drowning is approximate and based on newspaper reports.
