Event narrative (NOAA)

A three-year-old girl swimming at St Andrews State Park near Panama City Beach drowned in a rip current. The girl was floating on a raft with an 18-year-old girl when the rough current flipped the raft and both girls were pulled into the channel. The older girl was rescued by a Good Samaritan. Three U.S. Navy divers joined the Coast Guard in the rescue effort for the little girl. Reported by the Associated Press.
