Event narrative (NOAA)
Large swells from Hurricane Isidore, located in the extreme southeast Gulf of Mexico, caused rip tide conditions along the southeast Louisiana coast. A group of people swimming off the beach at Port Fourchon were caught in a rip tide. A 41 year old man drowned.
