Event narrative (NOAA)

A 51 year old male on vacation to the gulf coast from Michigan, drowned after his wave board drifted out of his reach in rough surf. There was a strong eastward flowing current where the male drowned. Rescuers tried to reach him but were unable to do so before he drowned.
