Event narrative (NOAA)

Numerous strong rip currents occurred along the coast of Volusia County. Beach safety personnel reported 140 people were rescued from the water on May 30 and 31. A 36 year old man drowned in a rip current on the 30th when he attempted to assist his wife who was in the rip current.
