Event narrative (NOAA)
Snow and sleet combined to make roads slick and hazardous and resulted in 2 accidents 10 minutes apart. The first occurred 18 miles south of Topeka on U.S. Highway 75 where a 2 vehicle accident resulted in 5 injuries, 2 of them critical. The second was a single vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike 5 miles southeast of Topeka. The lone occupant died at the scene of this accident.
