Event narrative (NOAA)

A 73-year old resident of Hercules was swept into the sea at Point Reyes on November 10, where big waves and sneaker waves were breaking along the shore. Marin County firefighters responded to reports of a person struggling in the water around 9:07 AM, and six rescue swimmers, four helicopters, and three rescue watercraft were deployed from federal, state, and county authorities. The person was recovered motionless around 9:49 AM and was airlifted onshore, where he was pronounced dead and in cardiopulmonary arrest.
