Event narrative (NOAA)

A woman was rescued with five others from dangerous ocean conditions. She died two days later on 7/15. Cause is not believed to be rip current related after speaking with Duck lifeguard captain. The victim was hit by a wave in the trough between the outer sand bar and immediate shore, and then lifeguards are unsure what happened.
