South swell heights of 5-8 feet developed along the Los Angeles County coast on Friday and continued to bring high surf and dangerous rip currents to the area through the weekend. A 17-year old boy drowned near the Manhattan Beach pier while swimming in the high surf on Sunday evening, July 26, 2009.
