Event narrative (NOAA)

Dozens of people were treated for heat-related illness at the J'ouvert festival in Lauderhill. A total of 54 people required treatment, with 26 requiring transport to local hospitals. It is believed that alcohol consumption and medical-related issues were factors along with the above normal temperatures.||The high temperature at the nearest ASOS at Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport was 92F, which is 5 degrees above normal for the date, with a maximum heat index of 100F registered that afternoon. A nearby WeatherSTEM station recorded heat index of 98F or higher for 5 hours, with a max value of 103F.
