Event narrative (NOAA)
Temperatures 5 to 9 degrees above normal in the upper 90s occurred in southwest Cochise County causing the Moderate Heat Risk category to be reached on August 23rd. The Pima County Medical Examiner confirmed that heat was the primary cause of death for one male near the San Pedro River just north of the International Border.
