Event narrative (NOAA)

The Rockdale Citizen and all of the major broadcast networks in Atlanta reported that a 15-year old high school football player died of heat exhaustion the day after an afternoon workout at the Rockdale County High School in Conyers. The air temperature at the time was 93 degrees with a heat index of 96. The player suffered from heat stroke and had collapsed on his way back to the locker room following an afternoon practice the day before, July 31st.
