Event narrative (NOAA)

Record heat was recorded at Bethel Saturday. Temperatures there reached 80 degrees F.20 miles upriver along the Kuskokwim River, near the village of Akiachak, a 6 year old boy was playing in the river with friends and disappeared. The body was found at about 10 pm Saturday.
