Hail up to 2.25 inches in diameter was measured at the NWS Hastings office (four miles north of downtown), causing thousands of dollars of damage to the vehicles of employees working this severe weather event. Large hail mainly ranging in size from quarters to ping pong balls was reported all across Hastings.
